Hoppers the new hangout in Monastiraki, which serves mainly Brazilian but also Latin American street food that we don't find anywhere else in Athens : from tapioca flatbread, acaraje de bahia (traditional Brazilian bread made from ground black-eyed beans fried in palm oil, stuffed with shrimp or meat and a special sauce called vatapá), coxinhas and kibbeh from Brazil to arepas from Venezuela and Colombia (pitulas made of ground corn dough filled with various goodies). Tapioca is their favorite material and they have aimed to introduce it to the Athenians. It looks like small pearls, is gluten free and has great nutritional value. It is a flour from the root of cassava (cassava or yuca), a native plant of Latin America, it is a raw material that they love a lot in Brazil and use it in many recipes. The pearls become powder which with heat turns into a cake. The pie itself has no taste so it can be used in different recipes. At Opper's they make it in many variations, sweet and savory, with beef, pork, chicken and vegetables or with chocolate and fruit. All this experimentation and the enthusiasm shown by those who tried it gave the inspiration to create Hoppers. Make your reservation quickly and easily and live a unique Brazilian experience!
