Information
At Esthio you will find creative references, playing with variations and adaptations of typical dishes of different Balkan countries using local products.
In the area of Koukaki, just below the Acropolis, you will stand in front of Esthiō , a casual dining restaurant that highlights Balkan and Greek cuisine with a creative approach. Three important categories that emphasize Esthiō are "Wheat, Wine, Sound." Here, going out to eat has turned into a form of entertainment. The restaurant has a cozy hall and a beautiful garden, while the rest of the neoclassical building is under renovation.
Greek cuisine serves as a base, but Chef Elvi-Dimitris Zympas offers refreshing suggestions in a small, seasonal menu that changes every three months. In some dishes, he replaces meat and chicken with fish, creating a lighter and summerier experience. For example, the Albanian dish "royal meal" or "cooked with walnuts" is presented with fish of the day from Gythio, accompanied by okra. The same goes for Cevapi, the traditional Serbian kebab, where fish dominates. The fish is marinated with spices, combined with Florini pepper jam and served on a handmade pie with a bean cream.
At Esthiō, the degustation selection does not follow typical paths and does not come with wine rotations with each course. Instead, they suggest you try Roditis orange, a wine that will ideally accompany the whole menu.
