Information
Rakoumel is a traditional tavern in Athens, in popular Exarchia district that offers Cretan cuisine. The owners grew up in Ierapetra of Crete, and turned their childhood memories into flavors, transferring the recipes of their grandmothers in an authentic cretan tavern. Here, raw materials come directly from Crete. The menu features authentic Cretan recipes like fried snails, risotto with boiled goat, vinegar sausage from Crete, courgette flowers, fennel pie and of course pie with honey from Sfakia, the most popular Cretan dessert. Compliment your meal perfectly with homemade raki from Zakro of Sitia, rakomelo that gladdens human soul, marjoram from the Lassithi.
Rakoumel is the meeting point of Cretans, residents of Exarchia, students, actors and artists, who create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. If you visit Rakoumel, you may meet your old friends, or make new ones.
